The format, passing score, and six published domains of CompTIA Cloud+ CV0-004, plus what changed from the previous CV0-003 exam.
Current exam: CV0-004Up to 90 questions · 90 minutesReviewed October 2026
Exam version notice: This overview follows CompTIA Cloud+ exam objectives version 2.0 for CV0-004, reviewed in October 2026. CompTIA calls that version Cloud+ V4. It launched on September 24, 2024. The exam allows a maximum of 90 questions in 90 minutes, and CompTIA publishes a passing score of 750 on a scale of 100 to 900. CV0-003 is the previous series. Items tagged Extra are useful context the CV0-004 objective list does not name. Confirm the exam code, fee, and objectives with CompTIA before you register.
What Cloud+ covers
CompTIA Cloud+ is the vendor-neutral certification for people who design, deploy, operate, and troubleshoot cloud resources across more than one provider. CV0-004 checks whether you can pick a service model, place a workload for the right availability and cost, migrate it with a named strategy, secure identity and data, and explain a DevOps tool by the job it does. It is not an AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud architect exam, and it does not ask you to click through one vendor's console.
Who it is for
Systems administrators who already run servers and now own cloud accounts
Cloud engineers who work across providers rather than one console
Candidates who want operations and deployment before a vendor associate exam
What the exam verifies
Which model, tier, or site type fits the requirement
How a migration, scale event, or pipeline should proceed
Which identity, control, or fault explains the symptom

Both exams used a maximum of 90 questions, 90 minutes, and a passing score of 750 on the 100 to 900 scale. The content shift is the reason to study the CV0-004 objectives rather than a CV0-003 book.
Architecture carries much more of the score. Service models, networking, storage, containers, and cost moved from a small design domain to 23 percent.
DevOps is its own domain. Source control, CI/CD, and the named tools (Git, Terraform, Ansible, Kubernetes, Jenkins, and others) are 10 percent. On CV0-003 they were scattered inside deployment and operations.
Troubleshooting is smaller, not gone. Deployment, network, and security faults remain, at 12 percent rather than 22. The method still matters. Deeper packet-level troubleshooting belongs on Network+.
A certification earned on CV0-003 stays valid for three years from the pass date. It does not let you skip CV0-004 if you still need to sit the exam.

Ideas to recognize
Learn the unmarked rows first. The same map is in the core notes and flashcards.
High-yield Cloud+ distinctions. Extra rows are useful context the CV0-004 objective list does not name.
Pair
How to separate them
IaaS and PaaS
On IaaS you patch the guest operating system. On PaaS the provider patches the platform and you ship the application.
RTO and RPO
RTO is downtime. RPO is how much data you can lose. A hot site meets a short RTO. A cold site does not.
Block and object storage
Block storage is a disk with IOPS, attached to compute. Object storage is blobs over HTTP, usually with tiers.
Horizontal and vertical scale
Horizontal adds instances. Vertical makes one instance larger. Vertical hits a size ceiling and often needs a restart.
Rehost and refactor
Rehost moves the workload unchanged. Refactor changes the application so it can use cloud services.
Blue-green and canary
Blue-green switches all traffic between two full environments. A canary sends a small share first.
Incremental and differential
Incremental copies changes since the last backup of any type. Differential copies changes since the last full backup.
SAML and OAuth 2.0
SAML federates sign-in. OAuth 2.0 delegates authorization. OpenID Connect adds sign-in on top of OAuth 2.0.
Terraform and Ansible
Terraform provisions infrastructure. Ansible configures what is already there. Drift is live state that no longer matches the code.
401 and 403
401 means the caller is not authenticated. 403 means the caller is known and is not allowed.
Anti-affinity Extra
CV0-004 names host affinity, which pins a virtual machine to a host. Anti-affinity keeps copies apart. Learn affinity for this exam.
How Cloud+ questions are written
Most items are multiple choice. Some ask you to choose two or three answers, and the stem says so. Performance-based items ask you to match a tool or storage type to a job, or to put a process such as vulnerability handling in order. Read FIRST, NEXT, and BEST as ordering words: the right control at the wrong step is still wrong.
One fact. Name the service model, backup type, billing model, or HTTP status.
A short scene. A restore must finish in one hour but last night's data is acceptable, or two networks share a CIDR and will not peer. Match the requirement to the choice.
A decision. Scale out before you buy a larger size if the workload is stateless. Rotate a leaked key before you only close the port. Test a restore, not only the backup job.
CompTIA says the example lists in the objectives are not exhaustive. A question can use a technology that fits an objective even when the PDF did not print that product name. Do not expect a full vendor configuration lab.
How to plan your Cloud+ study
A practical sequence if models, migrations, and identity still blur together.
01
Separate the four service models
Say who patches the operating system on IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and FaaS. Then place public, private, hybrid, and community. The shared responsibility line moves with the model.
02
Put availability next to cost
Region, zone, RTO, RPO, and hot, warm, and cold. Then hot, warm, cold, and archive storage, and reserved, spot, and pay-as-you-go. A cheaper tier that misses the RTO is the wrong answer.
03
Name the migration and the rollout
Rehost, replatform, refactor, re-architect, retain, and retire. Then blue-green, canary, rolling, and in-place. Infrastructure as code should detect drift.
04
Operate scale, backup, and identity
Horizontal versus vertical. Full, incremental, and differential. SAML versus OAuth 2.0, and 401 versus 403. Least privilege beats a broad role that "just works."
05
Match each DevOps tool to one job
Git stores history. Terraform provisions. Ansible configures. Kubernetes orchestrates containers. Jenkins and GitHub Actions run pipelines. ELK holds logs. Grafana shows metrics.
06
Drill the faults, then sit a timed exam
Quotas, throttling, overlapping networks, missing routes, leaked credentials, and cryptojacking. Use the four flashcard decks until you answer before the card flips. Then take original questions and return to any domain under 75 percent. Use 90 minutes as the pace of the live exam. Treat the 100 to 900 estimate as a personal trend, not a prediction.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the Cloud+ CV0-004 exam?
CompTIA allows a maximum of 90 questions and 90 minutes. Questions are multiple choice and performance-based. Confirm the current details with CompTIA before you book.
What score do I need to pass Cloud+?
CompTIA publishes a passing score of 750 on a scale of 100 to 900 for CV0-004. This site converts a practice percentage linearly onto that scale and labels the result unofficial, because CompTIA does not publish the real conversion.
Should I study CV0-003 or CV0-004?
Study CV0-004. CompTIA launched it on September 24, 2024, and lists it as the current Cloud+ exam (V4). CV0-003 is the previous series. A voucher applies to the exam CompTIA is offering when you book, so confirm the code before you register.
Does Cloud+ expire?
Yes. CompTIA certifications are valid for three years from the date you pass. Renewal options change, so confirm the current policy with CompTIA.
Are there prerequisites for Cloud+?
No prior certification is required. CompTIA recommends 2 to 3 years as a systems administrator or cloud engineer, plus Network+ and Server+ or equivalent knowledge.
Does this page include real CompTIA exam questions?
No. The practice questions on this site are original. They are not CompTIA exam items, and a practice score does not predict a result.
Exam versions, objectives, prices, languages, and retirement dates can change. Verify the details on the CompTIA certification page before you register.
