Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert

A learning path for the AZ-400 exam: flow of work, source control, build and release pipelines, security and compliance, and instrumentation. The exam code is still AZ-400. These notes follow skills measured as of July 27, 2026.

All four resources in this learning path are available. The exam overview, core notes, flashcards, and practice exams follow the AZ-400 study guide for skills measured as of July 27, 2026. There is no newer exam code. Azure administration that the expert credential still lists as a prerequisite is on the Azure Administrator path. The current developer associate exam on this site is AI-200; confirm with Microsoft before you treat it as an AZ-400 prerequisite.

What to expect from this learning path

The overview, core notes, flashcards, and practice exams are published. Every resource is free, and no login or payment is requested. The practice exams use 200 original questions written from the public AZ-400 study guide (skills measured as of July 27, 2026). Domain allocations used for the bank are 12%, 12%, 52%, 14%, and 10%. Pipelines are half the exam, so they are half the bank. This topic does not include an Azure DevOps or GitHub simulator.

Microsoft’s credential name is DevOps Engineer Expert. People still search for it as Azure DevOps Engineer Expert because the exam is AZ-400 and the work spans Azure DevOps and GitHub. These pages use both names so the path is easy to find, and the overview uses the name printed on the certification.

These are independent educational resources. They are not official Microsoft training, and a practice score does not predict an exam result. Always confirm current exam requirements, pricing, prerequisites, and objectives with Microsoft before you book.
